Canadian electronic record label Monstercat (home to the likes of Fractal, Au5, Pegboard Nerds, Vicetone + ) had Ep. 047 of their weekly live Podcast on Twitch interrupted (possibly hacked?) earlier today by an unexpected guest.
Around 30 minutes into the stream the volume was lowered and a screen filled with code popped up. Text was entered into the screen as everyone in the chat room tried to figure out what was going on. “hello world” was entered and spoken by a robotic voice and then the entire screen was taken over by what seemed to be a music video of computer sketches that merged together to form a ghostly face and then burst into colors. The takeover only lasted a few minuets and then the stream returned to normal. Lets just be glad that no naked cats were leaked in the latest of internet hacks.
Many in the chat room have conspiracies of what may have gone down, but no official information has been released from Monsercat or Twitch, or why Monstercat may have been the target. Check it out for yourself below.
Is it just a marketing ploy or something more? Who's behind this and who is behind who is behind this (the artist in other words)?
