These Nordic countries really know how to heat things up. I guess they should, Reykjavik is forecast to get up to 10 inches of snow before one of the biggest music weekends of the frigid season.
This weekend, both the Reykjavik and Stockholm Sonar festivals prepare to party. We all know how annoying it can be to hear music from another stage, but with these line-ups, the two might be fighting each other for sound space on a regional scale.
The line-ups in Reykjavik and Stockholm will include major artists from all over the world. Skrillex will be representing the US; Jamie xx (The xx) and SBTRKT, the UK; Paul Kalkbrenner, Germany; Nina Kravis, Russia; and Scandinavia's own Elliphant amongst several others.
Based in Spain, the Sonar festival is an eccentric celebration of art and music featuring some of the biggest names in the industry. Sonar Copenhagen will follow the waves from the Nordic variations March 13th and 14th. And it all is leading up to the 22nd edition of Sonar Barcelona this summer.
It's tough to say which Nordic party will be more boisterous, but one thing is for sure - Sonar is continuing to make a bigger and bigger name for itself around the world.
