The deeper and more progressive side of house music takes somewhat of a backseat this week thanks to a whole slew of disco, funk, and tech house infused tracks in this week's chart including a couple from Suara, a new amazing tune from Purple Disco Machine, and of course the top tune of the week from Justin Martin on Aus Music!
1. “Just Escape (Justin Martin Remix)” Escape ft. Daudi Matsiko, Aus Music
The Glasgow based artist who goes simply by the name Escape makes his debut on the consistently evolving imprint Aus Music with a downtempo gem entitled "Just Escape." This delicately beautiful tune stands quite well on its own but just for good measure, the Dirtybird player himself Justin Martin steps in to kick up the BPM while keeping the original melodies perfectly intact. This out now exclusively on Beatport!
2. “Where We Belong” Purple Disco Machine, Kittball
Germany's Purple Disco Machine is back with what could be his biggest one since his mega-hit "My House." For "Where We Belong," he's gone straight for the jugular thanks to an infectious vocal hook by UK songstress Alex Mills and an equally infectious piano hook. The Purple Pianos EP is out now exclusively on Beatport.
3. “Cracks” Simone Vitullo feat. Cari Golden, OFF Recordings
Cari Golden's sexy spoken lyrics have been doing some damage on dance floors as of late and this is probably her biggest once since Coyu's "Profound Pleasure."
4. “Chelsea Fads” Edviq, Lost My Dog
The Brooklyn-based producer from Moscow, Edviq, turns in his first ever release on the ever-consistent imprint Lost My Dog. This disco-funk drenched house choon is out next Monday through most online retailers.
5. “Allright (We'll Be)” Detroit Swindle, Heist Recordings
Detroit Swindle's Punch Drunk EP leads off with this insanely funky house choon entitled "Allright." This is out next Monday both digitally and on vinyl through Heist Recordings.
6. “City Pulse (Christian Smith & Wehbba Remix)” Dosem, Suara
It seems that the minds over at Suara were starting to miss the absolutely incredible City Cuts album by Dosem because five months later, three of arguably the best tunes on the album get a remix here on City Cuts Remixed Part 1. This is out now on Suara!
7. “Skiathos” Koen Groeneveld, Abzolut
Probably more suitable in a techno chart but this dance-floor rocker has enough groove and rhythm to satisfy any househead who's not afraid of a little bit of techno in their house music.
8. “I'm A Cliche Edit Service 52” Marvin & Guy, I'm A Cliche
Strange & foreign disco alert!! Every two weeks, the I'm a Cliche label out of Paris puts out a free download and a couple of days ago this highly-unique disco tune was posted up as their latest courtesy of the Italian duo, Marvin & Guy!
9. “The Limit” Montel, Roush Label
Montel's "The Limit" is a driving tune with a few key components including a minimal acid-line and a vocal sample that will put tingles down your spine right before the massive drop.
10. “Want To Know” Bontan & Sonny Fodera, Suara
Suara makes a second appearance in my chart this week and deservedly so thanks to this hypnotizing collaboration from Bontan & Sonny Fodera.
