This weekend the sun will be shining a little brighter, the grooves will be all hands on deck and the smiles & high fives will be passed around like they were on sale. It's time for the introduction of CRSSD Fest in San Diego. Let's Get CRSSD!
The announcement of this festival threw us all for a loop. How can a freshman fest have this good of a lineup, be held at a brand new park on the water in gorgeous downtown San Diego and have all the best food, booze and good times for a 21+ crowd?
It’s simple, the people running the show FNGRS CRSSD have the best taste in the biz and the brains to back it up, teaming up with Goldenvoice to throw the ultimate party in indie dance, nu-disco, tech and deep house, funk, tropical and beyond.
The incredibly forward-thinking lineup is a nice change from the electronic festivals that we’ve grown accustomed to, swapping out the usual mainstream bangarangers for a more eclectic taste of groovers. These are some of the biggest names in the biz no doubt but never before have they been brought together like this. It's definitely got the SoCal scene buzzin with excitement and curiosity.
I’ve been absolutely loving the small festival style lately, having most recently hit up FYF Fest in LA and Treasure Island Music Fest in SF, and this event should keep pace and then some. You can see so many more acts, the artists really interact with the smaller crowd and it just has a great community feeling. We are in this together, we all have that taste for premium tunage, so lets dance!
Get ready to be CRSSD...
Our home for the weekend is the year old Waterfront Park with a backdrop of the glowing downtown San Diego skyline and the Pacific-freakin-Ocean! The three stages are chalk full of great times ahead and literally, no matter who you go and see, it's a solid choice.
The Ocean View Live mainstage is rocking all the live acts with singers, full bands and that ferocious organic energy. Equally as big in scale of talent and energy are the City Steps and The Palms stages hosting a wild array of bumpers and shakers. These are going to be incredible dance parties all around so wear your comfy shoes, rock something sexy and light, and do your dance stretches before you get out there.
I can’t wait to experience this with you all for the first time. If you haven’t gotten your ticket there are still weekend and single day passes available so jump on it! Much love to all those who put this beautiful beast together, and to the artists for the party they’re about to ignite, and to all of you wild n’ crazy kids for kicking this thing off alongside me. CRSSD LTS PRTY!

The dance house supergroup composed of Hot Creations label founders Jamie Jones and Lee Foss is poised for a mega year, kicking things off at CRSSD Fest before making their way to Coachella next month and the promise of new music en route. Other group members Ali Love and Luca C of Infinity Ink will also be hitting the decks this weekend for what is sure to be a giant stamp on the festival by one of the hottest labels in house music. I can’t wait to watch Pleasure State’s Anabel Englund join the boys for some “Reverse Sky Diving” while the crowd melts into the gorgeous ocean backdrop on Saturday evening.
Founder of the hottest genre in dance music, the tropinator Thomas Jack is repping the sunshine house hard this weekend with a top-of-the-bill spot at The Palms stage. I can only imagine the level of hawaiian shirts that we will all witness this weekend, none more than at the Tropaholics Anonymous meeting that is this set. The Aussie is sure to bring an eclectic combo of trop flavors, deep house punches and indie dance delights as we get a taste of paradise from this young gunner. He definitely goes deeper than you might imagine when he spins and that's what I dig about the man. He’s my favorite tropical house artist to date and I’m stoked he’s getting all the love he deserves from CRSSD Fest.
Here is my wild card prediction for CRSSD - the best kept secret of the fest will be Kaytranada’s closing set on Saturday night. Yes all the choices at that time will be incredible and it’s hard to say no to the spectacle that is Empire of the Sun live. But holy buckets this man out of Montreal has the smoothest style. All of his remix selections and his growing, strong slate of singles will keep the bodies swaying so sexy, making it nearly impossible not to just grab the babe next to you and make out. His music has soul and a hip-hip esque candy coating - a rare breed I would argue in this lineup. Disclosure featured him a lot on their Wild Life tour and for good reason, he’s got that prowling wild thing groove.
The sundazed dreamy sounds will be wafting over the crowds at the Ocean View Live stage as Goldroom melts us and move us. Josh Legg’s synth soaked licks will be complemented by his live keyboardist and drummer, a tasty treat for anyone who has grown up on his daytime disco and dreampop tunes. LA-based Goldroom captures everything that is the SoCal lifestyle and is sure to be an early highlight of your weekend.
The lights down legend, the embassador of electronic, the sultan of sound - Pete Tong goes by many names that I just made up, but this weekend he simply goes by DJ. I am stoked to see all the legendary OG’s like him and James Murphy crushing grooves all weekend long. The BBC Radio 1 host and infamous voice for the electronic nation is rocking the City Steps as well as his pretty bitchin ALL GONE ON A BOAT afterparty with Thomas Jack. Doesn’t get much better than that.
The Aussie duo are coming off their biggest year yet with a massive album loved by both critics and all you fly, funky fans. These guys know how to put on one of the best shows I’ve seen, having just come through LA and blowing me away in the process. They take you all over the spectrum of dance, disco, deep and beyond with live vocalists Owl Eyes and others you’ll just have to wait and see. This will be one of the best dance parties of the weekend and with this incredible lineup that is saying a lot!
Jamie Jones B2B Seth Troxler
Two dragons...this hydra house beast is just too powerful, and of all the incredible b2b sets this weekend, you better be there. Blending Troxler’s Detroit house roots with Jone’s UK club pedigree, this set should cover the map of house varieties plugging in tech, deep and minimal stylings for a damn good time. This has Ibiza vibes written all over it. They’ve gone b2b there a few times so the blend certainly compliments a gorgeous beachfront set as the sun takes a dip into the San Diego waters during their two-hour timeslot.
This will be my fourth time seeing Chromeo in less than a year and I am just as excited as the first time around. The crowd is going to be ferociously singing as the boys in black close out the festival at the main stage. Chromeo encaptures all that this festival is about - great dancability, a hybrid of DJ and live performer and a style that is too cool to handle. Rock your leather jackets, stretch out those hammies and bring your best 'tudes and grooves because we’re about to get funkified.
One of the most creative sound makers in the game gets his main stage props with a sunset set to rock his new EP and our socks off. Using a hybrid of percussion, hacked video game controllers with endless musical possibilities, live looping and his strong voice, Robert Delong is the ultimate one-man-band electrowizard. The Seattle native just dropped a solid mix of new tracks and, after gaining a strong following over the last three years, he is sure to draw a crowd of face painted sing-a-longers. Prepare your ears and eyes for this one because it is quite the full spectrum performance.
The vibes at Tensnake can only be described as hot girl house. The deep disco roots grow deep into the dancefloor as the beach babes and boys fall in love to the hot and heavy sounds created by this charmer. I’m excited to fall in love to “58BPM”, hopefully featuring Fiona live on the vocals.
