Get in the mood with Hermitude, Mija + Yogi this Friday at Avalon

This Friday Control at Avalon welcomes Hermitude, Mija and Yogi.

We first got into Hermitude during our Australian Obsession phase last year (not that this has ended) sparked by; RÜFÜS  (whom they toured with), Chet Faker and Indian Summer (shout out to Sweat It Out!).

The duo hails from Sydney and has won many awards in their home country, most recently the Coopers Australian Music Prize for their forth album HyperParadise, which was also remixed by mastermind Flume. Hermitude’s upcoming album will be released this May.

Hermitude’s latest track "Through The Rough" features Young Tapz for a Mariachi inspired beat that makes us wish we were cool / skilled enough to drift like the cars in the music video, but we will still play this when we pull up to the club (in our Prius) and pretend like we have that kind of swag.

“We’re all about the studio. We’re all about the stage.” – Hermitude.

Giving equal emphasis to not only their production sound but also their presence in front of a live audience, which we cannot wait to experience.

Some call her Amber, but around town she’s known as Mija. OWSLA’s sweetheart who landed her big break when Skrillex spontaneously crashed her sunrise set on a Burning Man Art Car “Kalliope” at Bonaroo, where the two ended up playing B2B to an unsuspecting crowd of 1,000. A fairytale for any upcoming DJ, Skrillex took her under his wing and she has quickly become royalty within the scene. The set they produced is also a stacked pot of gold, leaving you going “yeeeees” the entire time as each proceeding song mixes in.

We picked up on Mija when the OWSLA gifted us with the EGGNOG Vol. 1 compilation, and were blasted away by her track with other up and comer Ghastly and Lil Jon “Crank It”. Proving that not only dose Mija have impeccable taste and stage presence, but that she can also produce a badass track.

Rounding out the massive lineup is powerhouse Yogi. We’re not sure if he’ll be opening or closing, or whether it is better to open with a burial or close with one, but we know that the burial will be brought, people will loose their minds and we could not be more excited for this.

Purchase your tickets HERE now for what is sure to be an insane night at Avalon (not that every night at Avalon is not a tad insane…)
