This new deadmau5 collaboration with Colleen D'Agostino is so much more than that. In an interview with Noisey, Colleen d'Agostino says she hopes to bring something new to the scene. Describing herself as the "first lady of mau5trap" an upcoming "80s electropop" EP, there seems to be a lot of truth in this.
D'Agostina first appeared on the acoustic version of the deadmau5 track "SeeYa" and now has one of her own featuring the label founder and EDM god. A far cry from her previous tour with The Material where she says she was often mistaken as a "merch girl".
Her new collaboration with deadmau5 premiered along with the interview on Noisey and is a fairly different sound. We wouldn't say it has that 80s electropop sound she described her upcoming EP Collide as having, but it's different. The melodic deadmau5 progression is easy to hear but compliments d'Agostina's soft vocals beautifully.
"I am really happy in this new road towards electronic music" - Colleen D'Agostino
