After a solid week of about 15 parties, many DJ sets, a whole lot of debauchery, & a solid of week of recovery, I was able to finally rack my brain and bring you what were arguably the three best parties, the three best DJ sets, and of course the obligatory three best tunes of Miami Music Week / Winter Music Conference.
The Top 3 Parties of Miami Music Week
1. Get Lost Miami
For most of the week, it was pretty difficult picking out which party to attend but Damian Lazarus' annual Get Lost 24-hour party is always a no-brainer. The lineup always rivals that of any festival and to be perfectly honest, it is pretty much one of the best parties all around when it comes to overall quality.
The party may have only opened with one room at 5 a.m., but by Noon, the party was firing on all cylinders as all four different areas were cranking with music.
There was the outdoor main area which included plush couches, outdoor rugs, and exotic antiques spread evenly around the dancefloor and on stage. It was very apparent that Damian Lazarus was shooting for the Burning Man vibe that he holds so dearly. There were event signs posted all around the outdoor area that read "Leave No Trace".
There was also the small intimate studio which included many crowd favorites like Droog, Behrouz, Eduardo Castillo, and even my personal favorite of the day early on in the morning by Wildkats alum, Sandeman!
The strangest and most unlikely area of the event took place in the alley of all places, but it completely worked! A couple of highlights included DJ Sneak & Doc Martin as the special guests and also Matt Tolfrey who rocked the alley harder than anyone.
Last but not least was the main indoor area dubbed as the "Gallery". The laser-filled room had some major highlights in the middle of the day from artists like Sasha, Dubfire, & Josh Wink, but the DJ sets by Carl Craig later on and the Wizardy afterhours set from Three, Lazarus, & Jonny White were sights to behold.
Get Lost Miami is a party that I am glad I did not miss and nor should anyone ever miss. So if you're feeling a bit of FOMO then you rightfully should be!
2. Drumcode at Space Miami
If you're not finishing off Miami Music Week at Space Miami, then to be perfectly honest you really shouldn't be going to Miami at all. Space Miami is one of the top clubs in the world and Adam Beyer's Drumcode party closed out Miami Music Week with a bang!
Upon my 5 a.m. afterhours entrance, Adam Beyer was rocking the still-dark Space Miami terrace with his signature banging dancefloor-friendly techno. But he was then almost upstaged by his wife, Ida Engberg, who led the terrace into the daylight with a spellbinding three hour set.
As mid-day started to set in, Joseph Capriatti & Beyer rose to the occasion and set the place on fire. At this point, even the dry ice cannons were unable to cool down the sun-drenched terrace.
3. Circo Loco at Mana Wynwood
The Italian party kings of Ibiza normally make their statement in Miami with a daytime pool party, but this year they did one better and did a night party in addition to a daytime one.
I only attended the evening party which took place at the new Miami Music Week venue Mana Wynwood, which was also the locale for Jamie Jones' Paradise event the night before.
The outdoor area of the event boasted a well-balanced superstar roster of DJs including three hour sets by both Tale Of Us and Apollonia, but it was Moon Harbour label boss Matthias Tanzmann who stole the show with a rousing two hour set that led the crowd (and everyone on stage who were dancing their asses off) into the daylight.
Notable Mention: Paradise at Mana Wynwood

The Top 3 DJ Sets of Miami Music Week
1. Ida Engberg at Space Miami
I am going to go out on a limb here and say that Ida Engberg played the best set of the conference, or at least the best one that I saw. She followed up her husband and almost literally blew the roof off of the Space Miami terrace.
Ida Engberg gradually hypnotized the crowd into a strong groove and then carefully punished the dancefloor with a harder than usual set, perfectly curated for the Space Miami terrace.
Not only was the gorgeous lady of techno slaying the crowd with her perfectly blending transitions but she was also commanding the crowd with her calm demeanor in the midst of a totally insane Space Miami crowd.
Techno & tech-house lovers pay attention because Ida Engberg is our next star in electronic music.
2. Carl Craig at Get Lost
Carl Craig is our fearless techno leader and he showed the Get Lost crowd why he's still a headliner.
As soon as I walked into the dark laser-lit room he put the crowd into a trance with his opening tune by Moodymann. Then, track by track, he worked his way in and out of a variety of groovy house and stomping avant-garde techno like no one else can.
3. Matthias Tanzmann at Circo Loco Warehouse
Circo Loco favorite Matthias Tanzmann followed up Tale Of Us' epic three hour set with a an absolutely banging tech-house set that featured the conference favorite "Take Some House" by Riva Starr!
Notable Mention: DJ Harvey at Red Bull Guest House
