A-Trak bio

In 2004, at the age of 22, A-Trak was performing in a London record store where Kanye West witnessed his crafty handiwork. An impressed West pulled him into DJing for his North American tour, which later extended into Europe and Asia. As well as West's touring DJ, A-Trak did turntablist cuts on some of West's G.O.O.D. Music projects, including the highly acclaimed LPs Be (Common) and Late Registration (West). Pulling together pieces of video footage from his battling days and current career, he composed an autobiographical DVD Sunglasses Is a Must, released in 2006. The following year, A-Trak was combining Southern rap and dance music on the genre-bending remix album Dirty South Dance, and producing tracks for rapper Kid Sister. In 2008, the DJ was commissioned by Nike to bring his production skills to bear on a mix for their Nike+ mixtape series, releasing the album Running Man to coincide with the company's Human Race running event that year. The year 2009 would prove to be prodigious for A-Trak, who not only released his own entry in the Fabriclive series, Fabriclive.45, but also teamed up with American producer Armand Van Helden to form the disco house duo Duck Sauce, who found massive worldwide success with their single "Barbara Streisand." A-Trak also continued to find steady work doing remixes, reworking tracks by artists like MSTRKRFT, Justice, and the Rapture, as well as dropping in to make appearances on albums by Drake and Kid Cudi. A-Trak also became a streetwear culture icon, collaborating with Nike, New Era, Kidrobot, Zoo York and pretty much every designer worth his salt. He headlined tours with Diplo, The Rub, DJ Mehdi and Kavinsky, and of course his older brother’s band Chromeo. Adding to his credits would be production for Chicago rap sensation Kid Sister, an audible influence on Kanye’s Graduation album, and a 4-track EP collaboration with Van Helden under the moniker Duck Sauce. After years of scratching, accumulating air miles and dressing smart, A-Trak has finally become the man to call to make the kids dance, quite possibly what he’s been hoping for his entire career.
