DJ Shot To Death After Refusing Song Request

Picture Unrelated To Incident

In what sounds much more like an episode of Tyrant than an actual news story, a DJ in India was shot to death after refusing to play a song at a birthday party. The incident took place at the celebration for the granddaughter of jeweler Hariom Gupta at Sidhauli village in the Meerganj area of Uttar Predesh.

He was shot dead by a "youth," which goes to show just how crazy this story really is. It's unclear his exact age, but the DJ was 30-year-old Arun Valmiki. The youth by the name of Ashu goes by the alias Ishu, and was so angered by the DJs refusal to play the song he wanted to hear, and open fired on Valmiki. It's also unclear which song he requested.

Ishu's house was raided by police recently, but he had already fled the scene. Valmiki was taken to the community health centre where he was soon after declared dead, and his body has been sent to post-mortem today.

To any American DJ complaining about belligerent people trying to request shitty songs, just remember that it could be much worse. And to any DJ playing in India soon, maybe just take a few requests throughout the set to be on the safe side.
