This weekend marks the first Splash House of 2015, bringing some of the best nu-disco and house talent to Palm Springs. One of our favorite artists, Le Youth, will be bringing his signature summer poolside vibes to the Saguaro on Saturday. The LA native has been spreading the California love for a while and has hit the road for his summer tour, which includes stops in Toronto, Barcelona, LA and more.
We got the opportunity to ask Le Youth a few questions about what he has coming up, so read what he has to say below. He also recently teamed up with our good friends at Thump for a Splash House themed mix, so jump on that below and get a feel for the "sexy pool vibes."
2015 sounds like it’s going to be a big year for you. What are you most excited for?
I'm excited to get some new music out. I've been sitting on a lot of unreleased of music.
We heard you’re starting your own record label. What can you tell us about that?
I can't say much now, just that it will be focused on the music that inspires me by my friends and other producers I’ve come across in the last year.
What gave you the idea to start your own label? How do you think your label will differ from the others out there?
I really just want to cultivate something that works across many aspects of the business. i.e. as a label, clothing line, event series, etc. I’ve seen some really cool stuff done along those lines by groups like French Express and Hot Creations, and felt I could do something like that, but in my own unique way.
There’s a lot of great music coming out of SoCal and other parts of the country right now, and I want to try to unify it somewhat into a greater whole that’s fun for the artists and fans equally.
What can you tell us about the new music you’re dropping this summer?
I have a bunch of remixes coming out this summer as well as a new original track or two.
How would you say your music has progressed or grown over the years?
I stopped caring and started having fun.
Are there any new artists you’re especially excited about right now?
I'm really excited about my friend who goes by the name of Digital Farm Animals.
What can fans expect to see during your upcoming summer tour?
Lots of new music and awkward hands in the air.
Of all the shows you’ve done in the past year, which was your favorite and why?
I played Verboten in NYC last Halloween and had an amazing time. Great club with amazing sound.
What do you have in store for Splash House attendees this coming weekend?
Sexy pool music vibes.
And lastly, who is on your list of “can’t miss” acts at Splash House?
Shift K3Y, RAC, Anna Lunoe.
