Josh Greenberg, co-founder of Grooveshark, was discovered dead by his girlfriend on Sunday evening in the apartment they shared, several weeks after Grooveshark settled a lawsuit that led to its shutdown and liquidation. No evidence of drugs or injuries was found, according to police, and the medical examiner's autopsy found no cause of death. Toxicology reports will take two to three months to give more conclusive results.
His mother reports that Greenberg was 'more relieved than depressed' about the recent settlement for Grooveshark, and that he was "excited about potential new things that he was going to start." Greenberg founded Grooveshark with Sam Tarantino as freshman at the University of Florida, and though the service numbered around 40 million users at its peak, it never received the proper licenses to legally offer its music. He was 28.
