As part of Soundscapes: Listening to Paintings, a new exhibit at the National Gallery in London where musicians create sound installations in response to paintings, Jamie xx has penned a new composition titled "Ultramarine". For the inspiration behind his piece, Jamie chose "Coastal Scenes" by Belgian painter Théo van Rysselberghe. The National Gallery released a video today documenting the process behind this piece, featuring footage of Jamie at work on the track and narration from the exhibit's curator and the creator director for the Young Turks, his label. Portions of the composition can be heard throughout the video, though the full piece can only be heard at the exhibit, which is open until September 6.
