Over the years Floating Points, aka Sam Shepherd, has captivated listeners with his unique take on electronic music. Using organic sounds mixed with jazzy rhythms he's developed a reputation for deep and soulful productions that are original and expansive. Over the past 6 years his career has been on a steady climb with releases on Planet Mu and his very own Eglo Records where he showcases his unique sound and production ability. Fans have been eager to hear news of a full length album in the works and it's now safe to say he has finally finished it and Elaenia will be released this Fall.

Along with the album announcement Floating Points has shared a new video for one of the tracks that will be featured on the album. 'Silhouettes' is a dreamy ballad focusing on what seems like an improvised percussion riff and atmospheric melodies. The video for this beautiful production was directed by Junior Martínez and Pablo Barquín and filmed in Rio Tinto, a corner of the Spanish and Portuguese border deemed the closest thing to Mars on Earth.

"We’'ve all been friends for a long time, and I was always hanging around their studio in Barcelona," Shepherd says. "When he [Barquín] invented a light painting machine, the idea to do a music video came about very quickly. We wanted to juxtapose the light painting in an exotic environment and this lead us to Rio Tinto."

Elaenia will be released November 6th via Luaka Bop (US)/ Pluto (UK) and you can pre-order t he album here.
