For the past 17 years, Paxahau has been dominating the Detroit music scene. From weekend shows to Movement Electronic Music Festival, the Paxahau name is stamped on some of the biggest events to grace Detroit.
This past Saturday, they celebrated their 17th Anniversary with a party worthy of such a feat. The party, itself, was appropriately hosted at TV Lounge in Detroit- the home to many of Paxahau’s events and shows. TV is a large bar with indoor and outdoor bars, two stages with a spacious dance floors and a standard for bringing in quality artists. This past Saturday, they opened up a second outdoor stage, keeping everyone outside in the beautiful August weather.

With their reputation for bringing in big names to Detroit, it wasn't surprising to see their lineup for the night. It started with the locals—Ryan McCray, Pontchartrain, Mike Huckaby and Daniel Bell—and ended with Dirtybird love from J. Phlip.
This was, without a doubt, the place to be Saturday night. The venue was bumpin’ from the moment you walked through the door. Bell held down the main stage for the beginning of the night, prepping the crowd for an amazing evening, while Pontchartrain and Huckaby dished out track after track of groovin’ beats on the second outdoor stage.

To top off the night, just before J. Phlip stepped up to the decks, we were surprised (in a good way) with a fireworks show literally above the patio.
J. Phlip’s set was fitting—gritty, dark and perfect for an anniversary party in Detroit. And the dance floor was absolutely packed. Packed with people who had made their way into Detroit for the evening. And everyone was having fun—in the crowd, up on stage. Every person had a smile on their face and seemed to be enjoying themselves.
To say their 17th Anniversary party was a success would be an understatement. The place was packed, the music was incredible and, overall, it was a great party.
