For all those rejoicing in the new upgrade to Apple's OS X operating system, take a step back and heed the announcement that Native Instruments has made. The upgrade to 'El Capitan' will have users losing primary functionality to their software plug-ins, multiple DJ controllers, and access to audio outputs on legacy hardware.

Since Native Instruments products are some of the most commonly used electronic music production and DJ software and hardware, this is bound to effect many people. The pieces of software that are negatively affected by El Capitan include Komplete, Traktor, and Maschine, all of which are extremely popular tools. Also, any instruments or effects used in Logic Pro X will not be usable. It is not advisable to upgrade to OS X El Capitan if a DJ is using the following equipment:

  • Traktor Kontrol S4 (MK1)
  • Traktor Kontrol X1 (MK1)
  • Traktor Audio 2 (MK1)
  • Audio 8 DJ
  • Audio 4 DJ
  • Audio 2 DJ (MK1)
  • Maschine (MK1)
  • Rig Kontrol 3

If you do indeed find yourself upgrading to the new operating system, don't worry, Native Instruments has your back. Beta versions have been made available to help handle these new bugs, with a more permanent solution soon to come.
