The Jordan V was the first Jordan that I ever got my hands on, they were the black ones and pretty much didn't leave my feet until the tread wore off. I've been a Supreme fan for a long time, their simple and often irreverant slogans have been a fave since the early 00s.
So to see these two things together is well, completely insane to this semi-retired sneaker freak. When I was doing Vapors Magazine back in the 00s I will admit, there was a sneaker problem in my house, boxes and boxes and boxes of the best shoes were constantly arriving at our offices out (except Visvim, they never hooked us up).
There was also a vinyl problem, but that's another story.
So to see these two brands come together with one of the cleanest collabs in some time just might bring me back intot the game, at least for a short hot minute. Good luck getting your hands on these, they've already quadrupled in price and they aren't even out yet.
Supreme x Jordan V
The Air Jordan 5 was introduced in 1990. Evolving the series' flight aesthetic, its design was inspired by a WWII fighter plane, down to the teeth-like midsole inspired by military nose art. Worn by Jordan for the start of the Chicago Bulls' first championship season - setting off their first three-peat, and a double-act of MVP awards -it remains a fan favorite.
A pioneering molded construction, raised medial side for ankle support and unique lace toggle for a secure fit were all engineered to assist Jordan's game. It was created to grab attention too - a reflective tongue was applied to light up with camera flashes and complement an innovative clear 'ice' sole.
As well as influencing several shoes beyond basketball, the Air Jordan 5 was immortalized on film, TV and record sleeves, its influence spanned inner cities as well as an international audience.
Supreme has worked with Jordan Brand to create a new version of the Air Jordan 5. Made exclusively for Supreme, the Air Jordan 5 will be offered in three colorways.
Available Online and in our London store tomorrow Friday, October 16th.
Available in Japan on October 17th.
