Skrillex has taken his sound to a multitude of musical realms since he burst onto the scene with his distinct brand of bone crushing Dubstep. He's produced for the likes of Justin Bieber and his live sets tend to feature various tempos, but with his recent remix of GTA's Red Lips he seems to have gone back to his roots.
The track itself is reminiscent of the Skrillex that made him a tastemaker in the first place. Melodic builds and a totally unique sound construction of stabs shows just how skilled a producer he really is. You can say what you want about Skrilly, he really knows how to develop a track.
The video itself is haunting, creepy and captivating. From the makeup to the camera work, it's a full on cinematic production. Skrillex talking to Pitchfork had this to say about the new video said:
"The first thing that went through my head when I heard the song is that it starts out kind of pretty, but still dark", he said. "It feels almost schizophrenic. The way Sam Bruno, the vocalist, delivers the song, it feels like she's afraid of something. The idea was, what if this girl was sitting here by herself, and when the key changes in the song, the sky just went black and these creatures come out from behind and it's this nightmare she's running from? It's this girl in your head, and this is what she's seeing."
