Soulwax are taking their expertise to the next level by composing a soundtrack for an upcoming film.
The Belgian musicians were tapped by Oscar nominated director Felix Groeningen to compose, record and produce the soundtrack for his upcoming film Belgica. The film is a stunning tale of two brothers who open a bar in Ghent in 2000 and rapidly become consumed by the Belgian nightclub scene.
Soulwax did not just compose the music for the film, but played a crucial part in the creative process by developing each and every one of the fictional musical artists that are featured.
The music was recorded and mixed at Deewee studio headquarters, Soulwax's new studio. It has taken 12 months to finish the project and Belgica is shaping up to be quite the production. The film has also been selected to be shown at the prestigious Sundance Film Festival in January.
