If you’re on Soundcloud regularly, you know Y2K. He has just under 40,000 followers and has remixed everything from Carly Rae Jepsen to Anderson Paak. This week he has blessed us with not only our new favorite word, but a new track titled 'Damn' featuring the mysterious lil aaron.
Y2K is definitley not holding anything back and pushing the boundaries when it comes to producing. His Yeezus influence is not only evident in this track, but he’s able to channel his inner Kanye and create emotion on a darker tone.
The song starts off with an orchestral intro, almost like the beginning of a story, then things turn quickly as soon as lil aaron comes in. With his distorted vocals, he's able to add a sense of rawness and emotion to even the simplest of lyrics. Not to mention the instrumental that slaps harder than a 17 year old girl. The drums and the bass alone will bother anyone over 42 years old (that’s a good thing). Y2K seems to be growing with every release, which is just a product of his maturity and drive to become a truly great great.
If 'Damn' is any indication to how Y2K’s year is going to play out, I think were all in for a little treat. Also, all of you need to hit up lil aaron and tell him to get off his ass and do more features. We all need a little more lil aaron in our lives.
