Richie Hawtin Unveils the New Instrument He Made with Allen & Heath, PLAYdifferently

The new DJ tool will look to revolutionize DJ culture with increased creativity inside the DJ booth

Richie Hawtin and Andy Rigby-Jones have constructed a new instrument for DJs. In collaboration with Allen & Heath and parent company Audiotonix, the new tool is designed to increase creativity when inside the DJ booth. 

Over the past two years, the pair have been developing and testing their first prototype of an instrument that they feel is missing from the professional segment of the market. Assessed at various leading worldwide events including ENTER.Ibiza, Glastonbury Festival and theBBC Radio 1 Essential Mix in Los Angeles last month, the first prototype has already seen a number of iterations and is nearing completion.

“The ethos of Play Differently is to create products that will magnify the individuality and expand the creativity of today’s generation of electronic music artists, producers and DJs . We hope to encourage and inspire creatives to PLAY Differently.”
