Traveling to exotic destinations has always been a part of the Spring Break tradition, but throwing quality music in the mix is always a good decision. With the global music festival market booming in 2016, there is no better time than now to experience some of these incredible events while soaking up the sun with your crew. We profiled some of the best options for this years festivities and there is still plenty of time to squad up and book your flights if any of these parties catch your eye.
Ocho Rios, Jamaica
In it's very first year, Paradise Lost Jamaica looks to make a splash as a major player on the circuit. Sporting a monster lineup headlined by acts like Tiesto and Bassnectar, the three day event will take place on some of the most beautiful beaches that Jamaica has to offer. Promising to provide a once in a life time experience, Paradise Lost will give festival goers the chance to dance to their favorite music while eating authentic Jamaican cuisine and getting down at three stages surrounded by the sea. Did I mention you can camp on the beach vs staying in a hotel? This is not a music festival in a parking lot. Paradise Lost is Jamaica's only Spring Break music festival and it sounds like it really could be paradise for fans looking to make the trip.
Annie Mac Presents: Lost And Found Malta
March 29 - April 4
Talk about a stacked lineup.. This might be the most well rounded dance music festival I have ever seen on paper and it all takes place in Malta! An ancient European land with some of the most beautiful waters in the Mediterranean. Annie Mac has out done herself in the second year of the festival, bringing together monster talent like Disclosure, Seth Troxler, The Martinez Brothers, Dusky, Busy P, Redlight and so much more. This is one of those vacation festivals where you stay in a hotel and you party all over the place at different clubs, pools and venues (including boats and castles). Last year's event was said to be legendary so you can only imagine how they will look to make 2016 even better.
Ultimate Music Experience 2016
South Padre Island, Texas
March 16 - 19
While technically still in the United States, South Padre Island has been making spring break memories since the late 1960s. Now in it's fifth year, UME has grown into a giant, expecting to bring crowds of 50,000 + to the Texas beach destination in 2016. Headliners for the festival include EDM icons such as Kaskade, Porter Robinson and Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike. While a party like this might make techno loving hipsters cringe, if you are looking for a wild time that will probably end up like something out of your favorite teen movie, then Ultimate Music Experience just might be the fest for you.
São Paulo, Brazil
March 12 & 13
Lollapalooza is a trusted name in the festival world that got its start as a tour in 1991. It now has it's home base in Chicago (since 2005) but has continued to expand into new markets including Argentina, Chile, and Brazil in 2011. Also in its fifth year, this South American version of the festival is located in one of the biggest party cities in the world. Lollapalooza consistently brings some of the biggest lineups on earth and 2016 delivers more of the same. The festival is headlined this year by Eminem, Florence and the Machine, and Jack U with other major acts such as Snoop Dog, Kaskade, and Tame Impalla also in the mix. If you have never been to Brazil then Lollapalooza is the perfect reason to check out one of the most beautiful places on the planet.
St. Martins Island
March 9 - 13
Rounding out our list is the SXMusic festival, which goes down during the second week in March in the beautiful St. Martin Island in the Caribbean. Another new festival, SXM looks to bring some deeper vibes to the tropical paradise with acts like Guy Gerber and Jamie Jones headlining the 3 day event. This will probably be one of the more laid back festivals you could ever go to as your chances of running into one of your favorite DJs around your hotel are high. I would expect an atmosphere similar to BPM in Tulum but with the Caribbean flavor that you can only get at St. Martins' Island.
