Las Angeles local DJ and producer Nicholas Alvarado, widely know as Pumpkin, tragically died in a car accident on March 25th. He was in Kerrville, Texas heading to a music festival when an accident occurred, killing both drivers.
A good friend of Pumpkin's, Sammy Bliss, took to Facebook to report the news, saying “I have the unfortunate responsibility of conveying the saddest news possible. It’s with a completely broken heart that I need to let you all know that Nick died in a car accident last night in Texas, on his way to a festival.”
As a staple of the festival scene, Pumpkin will be sorely missed in the transformational community. A regular at The DoLab, he was a favorite at festivals like Lightning in a Bottle and Symbiosis. His distinct blend of deep house grooves mad him a fixture at these events, not to mention his skill as a producer, garning high praise for remixes of Florence + The Machine, Wildlight, The Mowgli's and much more.
A sudden tragedy like this certainly rocks the local community as well as those around the country that knew him well. R.I.P. You can read Sammy Bliss's statement below:
