Major Lazer, the dance music outfit helmed by Diplo, recently shared footage of their revolutionary performance in Havana, Cuba that marked a momentous occasion for dance music and politics.
Taking place in front of the US Embassy, the free concert prompted nearly half a million people to rally for the event. In many ways, this highlighted the resumed diplomatic relations between the US and Cuba, which had been strained since the Cold War in 1961. Back in 2014 both countries settled their differences and now we are seeing Cuba "open" to the rest of the world.
Footage of the performance has surfaced online which captures the enormous crowd that showed up. Watch the video below, complete with the security trying to keep order by pushing back on the rails and a massive crowd getting down to Major Lazer's distinct brand of dance music.
