Petition Launched to Rename a Block in Queens “A Tribe Called Quest Boulevard” Honoring Phife Dawg

The petition is close to reaching it's goal for renaming a street in Queens in honor of the legendary Hip Hop group

The music industry was rocked last week after founding member of A Tribe Called Quest, Phife Dawg, passed away due to complications with diabetes. Fans and peers expressed their sorrow for the legendary figure who pioneered the Hip Hop genre with his creative and stylistic ability. Now a petition has been launched to rename a block in Queens to "A Tribe Called Quest Boulevard" in honor of the late rapper.

The petition can be found on asking to rename the block of Linden Boulevard between 192 Street and 193 Street in Queens. At the time of publication there are 3,537 signatures with a goal of 5,000. Once the goal is reached, the motion will get brought up to Councilmember I. Daneek Miller and Speaker Melissa Mark-Viverito. If you would like to get involved, sign the petition here.
