Throughout their existence WEVAL's music has been completely immersive in nature, but while astonishingly fully-formed, always seemed destined for more. With a string of releases under their belt the obvious progression would be to put together a full length album and their beloved living room studio just wasn't cutting it anymore. Thus, the duo consisting of Harm Coolen and Merijn Schotte Albers, branched out.

There was no shortage of inspiration for producing the album material in their new space. They built a studio in the attic of an old building which would become their home. This was where all the magic happened, as WEVAL described the experience by stating that "working on the album all by ourselves in this bloody hot attic was all we had on our mind." This prompted them to decide that the album shouldn't sound too clean: "We try to find the beauty in imperfection. It makes things sound more human."

The raw essence they were searching for is clearly heard in the first single titled 'I Don't Need It'. Listen to the new track below and look out for more music in the coming months as WEVAL's self-titled album will be released June 10th via Kompakt.
