With an autopsy schedules for Friday, we are left with many questions dealing with the cause of Prince's death. That being said, we do have more information regarding what what happened yesterday, April 21, and the days leading up to his passing.
At 9:43 am a man called 911 from Prince's Paisley Studios in Minneapolis, MN and declared that someone had died. " The person is dead here... And the people are just distraught," said the unidentified man as he scrambled to tell the dispatcher the address.
Paramedics rushed to the scene and attempted to perform CPR but were not successful. Prince was pronounced dead at 10:07 a.m., just 30 minutes after authorities responded to the initial call.
Later it was confirmed that the person who had died was in fact Prince. His publicist released a statement:
"It is with profound sadness that I am confirming that the legendary, iconic performer, Prince Rogers Nelson, has died at his Paisley Park residence this morning at the age of 57. There are no further details as to the cause of death at this time."
Although the cause of death is unknown at this time, speculations of a drug dose are currently being reported.
Prince was supposedly treated for a drug overdose just 6 days prior to his death. After a concert in Atlanta, his plane had to make an emergency landing in Illinois. It was first reported that he was battling the flu, but according to TMZ, Prince was given a "save shot" which is commonly used to treat an overdose on opiates.
Upon learning of his death, Prince's loyal fans flocked to record shop and other sights where gatherings were being held. Here's how the music industry responded.
