If you love to dance and the history of the culture, there is no better place to be than at Good Room in Brooklyn for A Guy Called Gerald, Nicky Siano and DJ Spun. These legendary figures will come together for a special night on Saturday, May 28th, presenting a nostalgic trip into the heart of the foundation of dance music.
With over 25 years in the game A Guy Called Gerald has collaborated with a plethora of noteworthy figures from Frankie Knuckles and Goldie, to Derrick May and Herbie Hancock. Which is something not many musicians in any genre can ever say. His mark on the scene is well documented and will be performing a special LIVE set at Good Room that is not to be missed.
Having Nicky Siano come through is truly a special treat as well. His wealth of musical knowledge is unparalleled and he is one of the most influential figures of all time. He opened The Gallery in 1971, which is where the likes of Frankie Knuckles and Larry Levan got their first gigs. He was also the first DJ to take to the booth at the iconic Studio 54. Throughout his entire career he's kept dance floors moving with an infectious groove and it's always a pleasure to witness him go to work.
This night of legends would not be complete with the NYC staple that is DJ Spun. As the curator of MoMA/P.S.1’s Warm Up event series for 7 years, he's supplied the city with the best dance music has to offer. There's nothing that beats a DJ Spun party. He's also worked closing with the likes of Maceo Plex, Francois K, DJ Harvey, Daniel Wang, Stephen Hall of Arthur Russell and Loose Joints. With that being said, there's no wonder why he's still one of the most sought after DJs to witness.
