Four Tet

I've met Four Tet a number of times backstage at gigs and he always tells me the same thing, "I don't do interviews." Of course once we get past me pleading for him to answer a few questions, he warms up to me and is genuinely one of the nicest guys in the industry. His wealth of musical knowledge is unparalleled, which is evident in the complex and intricate arrangements he produces. If only he would share his secrets, maybe one day.

Recently, Gilles Peterson was fortunate enough to catch up with Four Tet ahead of his US tour to talk about his music and go through some of his memorable tracks. He's produced music under a number of aliases over the years and here we are graced with the full scope of his sonic output. Listen below.

"With a mammoth US tour kicking off this week, I thought it an ideal time to upload Kieran's recent visit to the basement. I was playing his Fridge tracks on DAT way back in the Kiss FM days, and so it's great to still be working with him on our Steve Reid Foundation project, which raised £11k at Phonox the other night!" - Gilles Peterson
