At the tail end of 2015, we were graced with news that Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett had planned to release a new Gorillaz album this year. Now according to GorillazNorthAmerica, Hewlett revealed that the album won't be released until 2017.
Speaking about the new material, Hewlett said it's “special, really fucking special” and “can't be rushed.”
Since announcing the album in October 2015, Gorillaz have teased new collaborations including one with David Bowie and most recently with Vic Mensa. They also shared footage of the artists working in the studio. If this is any indication, we know to expect a truly special collection of music from the forward thinking band.
Stay tuned for more news which is sure to come very soon.
