We're still buzzing from this past weekend when EDC Las Vegas hosted over 400,000 passionate festival goers to celebrate the 20th anniversary, a truly miraculous milestone in dance music.
With eight innovative stage designs, stunning new art installations, beautifully costumed theatrical performers and nightly, jaw-dropping firework displays, there was plenty to sink your teeth into if you were on the festival grounds. But if you couldn't attend or are in need of a fresh reminder after the madness, we have put together our top 5 sets from the weekend. Listen to all of them below.
Ksakade has become known for having some of the most massive festival crowds, and there's a reason for that. His sets are pure magic. It's the performance you go to for those euphoric feels, which is what makes EDC the most memorable weekend of your life. Dance with your friends, cry, love, laugh, and overall just be happier than you ever had been before. The plethora of emotions that pour out during a Kaskade set is almost unimaginable. You have to be there to truly understand the euphoria, but by listening to the recording, you can at least get an idea of what went down.
Crowd favorite Jauz took over the main stage this year in a spectacular way. Playing an all out set with his signature bass house style, only to go way harder into the dirtiest dubstep. He even unleashed his brand new track with Zedd during the performance. Humble as ever as he constantly thanks the crowd for coming to his first EDC performance, Jauz is EDM's wonder-kid and the sky's the limit at this point.
SNBRN b2b Dr. Fresch
When two best friends like SNBRN and Dr. Fresch come together in the largest setting of their careers, you can expect nothing short of a magical performance. The duo tore up the Cosmic Meadow with an hour of filthy jams. As if the set didn't have enough fire, the two even brought out special guests like Shaun Frank and Delaney Jane to perform their collaboration 'The New Order'. The two played an eclectic set ranging from throwback hits like 'Baba O'Reilly', to a g-house banger, 'Gangsta Walk'.
This "newcomer" to the scene, simply known as Marshmello, has skyrocketed into the upper echelons, quickly becoming not only a fan favorite, but the favorite of multiple artists as well. His set was full of surprise guests that ranged from Skrillex, Ookay, and Martin Garrix. He even trolled the crowd when he took off his helmet to reveal himself as Tiesto (Deadmau5 was not impressed). He's not Tiesto by the way. Regardless, this live set brought the heat to the Cosmic Meadow.
Tycho - Sunrise Set
This was possibly one of the most transcendental ways to watch the sunrise in Las Vegas, after an already long weekend of dancing and partying. Tycho is infamous for bringing long lasting sunrise sets to magical festivals such as Burning Man, and this year he graced the attendees of EDC with this gem of a journey. With a track selection ranging from Jamie xx to Com Truise, the downtempo genius closed out Cosmic Meadow on Saturday in the most incredible way.
Special Mention: Lione
Unfortunately this live set was not recorded, but as one of the attendees I can say that it was phenomenal. Relative newcomer Lione is blowing onto the scene so fast that he caught the attention of superstar DJ Martin Garrix, who even came over to Stage 7 to see this performance, and has invited Lione out to join in his Ibiza residency this summer. Keep your eyes out for this one, he's may very well be the next big thing!
