I never imagined that house music could get this deep. Sure it's not just a genre. It's a feeling! Therefore, it can take us wherever we want to go. These top ten tunes do just that. Some of the tracks are raw and go straight for the dancefloor, and others take a different angle, making us close our eyes while we bounce along to the steady rhythms. Enjoy the variety that this week's top ten house chart has to offer.
1. 'TURGOYAKK' - GORJE HEWEK & IZHEVSKI [WATERGATE]
The 20th edition of the Watergate mix series by Matthias Meyer featured this exclusive, dreamy tune which now sees it's own release on EP #2 of Watergate 20 along with 'Satori' by YokoO & Retza . Stay tuned to the fourth position on the chart which features EP #1.
2. 'TEN (LUCA BACHETTI ENDLESS REMIX)' - SOLEE [PARQUET RECORDINGS]
This past March, Parquet Recordings founder Solee created 'Ten' as a tribute towards the label's ten year anniversary. Just three months later the fantastic track gets some well deserved remix treatment from both Habischman and of course from the Italian dance music master, Luca Bacchetti.
3. 'HOLDING BACK (DEEP TRIBE REMIX FEAT. VIOLIN GIRL)' - FREDDY BE [PERSPECTIVES DIGITAL]
L.A. based producer, promoter, and all-around dance music stalwart Freddy Be first introduced 'Holding Back' to the world via John Digweed's Transitions radio show a few years back. But since then the tune has yet to see the light of day until just this past Friday on Darin Epsilon's Perspectives Digital imprint!
The original along with three carefully curated remixes are included as well including this beauty of a remix by L.A.'s own Deep Tribe featuring Violin Girl who turns in an ethereal violin solo.
4. 'LA STRINGS' - MATTHIAS MEYER [WATERGATE]
EP #1 from the 20th Watergate mix series is spear-headed by this delicately deep tune by none other than Matthias Meyer.
5. '7 DAYS' - WHOAMI [SNOE]
The SNOE imprint sees not only it's tenth ever release, but also it's the first in a VA series called SNOEFLAKES which focuses on many different sides of house music.
6. 'THE STEP OFF' - SOLARDO [ROUSH LABEL]
More dirty dancefloor business on this chart this week except this time from the Manchester duo known as Solardo.
7. 'A BASEMENT, A RED LIGHT, AND A FREE LINE' - LOCAL GROUP [GET UP RECORDINGS]
London duo, Local Group's debut EP on Get Up Recordings is a clear testament that the classic garage sound of house music which harks back to the early 90s and beyond, may go in and out of style but the the genre itself will always sound as fresh as ever.
8. 'RED LIGHT (LAWRENCE REMIX)' - RICARDO TOBAR [COCOON RECORDINGS]
The original recoding of Ricardo Tobar's 'Red Light' may have been a bit off the beaten path of conformity, but one year later the unconventional tune sees a gorgeous melancholic rerub from the German producer simply known as Lawrence.
9. 'PLUG & PLAY (ALMOST HUMAN REMIX)' - DENNIS CRUZ [SURUBA]
SoCal based producer, Almost Human injects a heavy dose of drama to Dennis Cruz' 'Plug & Play.'
10. 'HONEY ROCKS' - RECLOOSE [AUS MUSIC]
Matthew Chicoine AKA Recloose may just be one of the most underrated producers in the game. He's a regular on Carl Craig's fabled Planet E Recordings and on Dutch label, Rush Hour Recordings. Add to that list a well-deserved debut on Will Saul's respected imprint Aus Music as well. The new EP is called Honey Rocks and the title track is featured here.
