Drake has written a letter in response to the recent tragedy involving 37-year-old Alton Sterling, who was brutally shot and killed by two white Baton Rouge police officers on Tuesday. The tragedy has resulted in public outrage after a video of the incident was posted online, revealing just how ridiculously cruel and aggressive the officers acted before ending the mans life.
In the emotionally charged letter, Drake declares that the “cycle of violence” involving police brutality needs to end.
“It’s impossible to ignore that the relationship between black and brown communities and law enforcement remains as strained as it was decades ago,” states Drake. “No one begins their life as a hashtag, yet the trend of being reduced to one continues.”
“This is real and I’m concerned, concerned for the safety of my family, my friends, and any human being who could fall victim to this pattern,” Drake goes on to say. He is likely not alone in those concerns for public safety following all the recent violent altercations that have been brought to the public's attention. Especially when it involves a group of people, the police, who are actually responsible for our protection. You can read the letter in full below.
