Two 17-year-old individuals, one man and one woman, where found dead at T in the Park Festival following the first day of the event. Although many are speculating that this is a drug-related incident, the cause of death is still unclear.
Police Scotland’s Ch Supt Angela McLaren, said: “We are continuing to investigate these deaths and are following lines of enquiry, including the possibility that they may be drug related. I would remind all persons attending the festival that there is no safe way of taking drugs.”
There was also a brawl that broke out shortly after the gates opened on Thursday. A video did capture the altercation, which shows a group of "bare-chested young men punching each other to the sounds of screams from onlookers," as described by The Guardian.
“We are shocked and saddened by today’s news and our thoughts are with the families and friends at this time,” said festival Director Geoff Ellis. “We are offering our full support and assistance.”
In another separate incident, an ATM containing a "significant amount of cash" was stolen form the main arena between the hours of midnight and 7am. Police are calling for anyone who may have witnessed suspicious activity to come forward.
As Scotland’s biggest music festival, T in the Park is expected to draw crowds of more than 80,000 people with a lineup consisting of Jamie xx, Disclosure, Calvin Harris and the Red Hot Chili Peppers all scheduled to perform.
