Flying Lotus has announced that he will be releasing a studio-length album titled Kuso. The multi-genre DJ, producer and rapper had premiered a short film called Royal at Sundance NEXT FEST last weekend, and then later revealed on social media that there would be more to the project.
"I lied .. Royal is just one piece of first my feature film called Kuso been steady filming low key this year with some talented folks," FlyLo tweeted after the showing. In a subsequent tweet, he revealed that the film was 65% done, adding that the music was "getting there."
Speaking of which, the film's score will contain songs from the likes of Aphex Twin, Thundercat and Silent Hill composer Akira Yamaoka. While FlyLo and Aphex Twin share a record label, Warp Records, the former artist also releases on the Brainfeeder imprint.
Flying Lotus has yet to announce an official release date for Kuso.
