Just ahead of the official release date for their upcoming album, AMNESTY, Crystal Castles have released another track from the effort titled "SADIST." In addition, vocalist Edith Frances has issued a public statement on their Facebook page revealing that the duo will donate their share of royalties to Amnesty International.
Unlike much of what Crystal Castles have already let leak out from AMNESTY, "SADIST" follows a much lower tempo and markedly more subdued tone. While the synth work resembles what they recently delivered on "Fleece" closely enough, it lacks the primal aggression of some other tracks from their upcoming album.
In what appears to be the first public statement made to this effect, Crystal Castles have accompanied the song with the announcement that their share of proceeds from AMNESTY will be donated to Amnesty International and go towards "LGBTQ rights, women's rights, prisoner rights, and children's rights." Frances wrote:
A lot of fucked up stuff is going on in 2016. Its been a year of glaring violations of human rights. As much as the world can seem scary, seeing how so many people are reacting is inspiring. It's vital for us to actually support the people taking direct action to make a difference.
AMNESTY comes out through Casablanca Records on August 19th. After wrapping up their current tour with two UK performances on the 26th and 27th, Crystal Castles will begin another with a gig in Carrboro, North Carolina on September 6th.
