Pre-2016, Ed Warrener of Nottingham produced a barrage of releases across Hospital Records, Med School and Critical Music - but somewhere amongst all that, he transformed into Ed:it. The producer is signed exclusively to Shogun Audio, who has up and shipped shop to South London, and is now set to storm the Shogun stable with his second EP on their label, the aply titled South City EP.
Eking fresh inspiration from his recent move to the mean city streets, Ed:it will officially release the results come September 2nd. The South City EP consists of four cracking tracks, and Magnetic Magazine proudly lavishes praise and attention on the middle child of the bunch: "Heaven Sent You."
In regards to the track, Ed:it told us:
"Heaven Sent You" came together as a steppy liquid number. I wanted something on the EP that holds a more musical drop but keeps a gritty feel as it progresses. A track you can listen to on an everyday basis but also captivates the dance floor.'
Spanning the best of both worlds, this groove employs bass and tempo to rough up the soul-laced vocals. Call it a liquid lunch if you'd like but there's something a little murkier broiling away on the bottom layer, a theme which is quintessentially and unapologetically South London if you ask us. Nicely done, E to the D to the I to the T!
