Alongside a number of other indicators that electronic music might be nearing the end of its EDM phase, Skrillex has announced that he and Diplo have played their last festival as Jack Ü for the foreseeable future. He broke the news following a string of UK performances that brought the duo to Reading Festival, Leeds Festival and Bramham Park this past weekend.
"Just did out Last jack Ü festivals of 2016 …and for a long long time," Skrillex said in an August 28th tweet that has since been deleted. "thank you for all the people who came out to support us. (sic)"
Skrillex having deleted the tweet could suggest a number of things. It might indicate, for instance, that the decision had not been mutual and was made spontaneously - in which case Jack Ü fans might still look forward to the announcement of additional tour dates. Then again, Skrillex and Diplo might have just decided that they owed it to their fans to break the news in a more ceremonious manner.
Now that the work week is under way, Jack Ü fans are likely to see a more official statement from the duo one way or the other. In the meantime, listen to a recording of their recent performance at Reading Festival below.
