The recent popularity of house and techno has certainly boded well for Golf Clap. The Detroit house duo have been producing and performing this music since long before it was the genre du jour of electronic's youngest crop of hipsters, so they certainly can't complain about its recent resurgence.
However, the duo's longtime fans might have noticed that their sound has grown a bit more mainstream as of late. Since electronic music's celebrated root genres are in vogue, the industry has called for more festival-friendly iterations of these styles; more ecstatic buildups, shorter transitions and almost radio-friendly bass lines have become par for the course in a standard house set - and Golf Clap aren't exempt from this.
Nonetheless, when the duo met up with Magnetic Magazine following their performance on the rooftop of Club Vinyl during Cloak & Dagger festival in Denver, Colorado, they still spoke with the authority of house music veterans. Listen to what they had to say in the SoundCloud player up above, and keep on the lookout for our coverage of the festival as a whole.
