MOBY

The Drumcode edition of Moby Remixes features heavily in this week's techno chart but the amazing music doesn't stop there. Rodriguez Jr takes a spot with a sophisticated techno gem. Ellen Allien and Recondite get in on the action as well. Plus, the brilliant Robert Babicz closes the chart with another epic one to add to his resume. This techno chart is stacked from top to bottom with one huge tune after another!

1. "GO (TIGER STRIPES WHITE TAIL REMIX)" - MOBY [DRUMCODE]

Swedish techno guru, Tiger Stripes takes a bold step by audaciously remixing Moby's mega classic "Go" and turning it into his own by merely only leaving in the "Twin Peaks" vocal sample and adding a whole new arrangement of melodious synth stabs that sit rhythmically on top of an immensely compressed, punchy kick-drum. To put it plainly, this tune goes off!

2. "EFFIGY" - BRENNEN GREY [OCTOPUS BLACK LABEL]

Brennen Grey's debut EP on Octopus is a valiant one because not only is the title tune a stomper but the b-side, "Effigy" is about as gritty as they come. Turn this tune way the hell up.

3. "CHAIN REACTION" - RODRIGUEZ JR. [MOBILEE RECORDS]

The widely admired Frenchman, Rodriguez Jr returns to Mobilee for a sophisticated techno workout he calls "Chain Reaction."

4. "NATURAL BLUES (MARCO FARAONE'S WHITELANDVOX REMIX)" - MOBY [DRUMCODE]

The second Moby remix to fall on this week's techno chart comes from Italian extraordinaire Marco Faraone who goes not only more dramatic but a bit harder than usual as well.

5. "LANDING XX" - ELLEN ALLIEN [BPITCH CONTROL]

From the techno queen herself:

"They are as hypnotic and freaky as my DJ sets are. I used some of my favourite instruments, the 303, the 909 and the Minimoog to create two tracks full of murky, distorted vocals, strange breaks and pure drastic emotion in beat form. This record is my definition of the Allien sound."

6. "PORCELAIN (LUCA AGNELLI REMIX)" - MOBY [DRUMCODE]

The final Moby remix for this week's chart inclusion comes from Drumcode regular, Luca Agnelli who gets the honor of remixing my personal favorite and the favorite of many others as well, the enduring and remarkable, "Porcelain."

7. "CORVUS" - RECONDITE [GHOSTLY]

If you listened to the well talked about Essential Mix from Recondite recently you were probably wondering why the sound of birds crowing had made their way in there. Well the odd beauty of a tune is called "Corvus" and it's out now on the esteemed Ghostly imprint.

8. "JUST HANG ON (KOLSCH REMIX)" - REBOOT [GET PHYSICAL MUSIC]

Danish production wizard, Kolsch applies his magical touch to Reboot's already brilliant dance tune, "Just Hang On" and the result is a peak-time hands in the air jam that is guaranteed to make any floor go completely mental.

9. "PROVIDENT" - FELIX KROCHER [TERMINAL M]

Good god. What an amazing EP!!! Buy all four tracks on this one. Don't even think about which one is best. I've picked "Provident" for the chart merely for the fact that it's the title track. Otherwise, all four tunes hold their own and each one could easily stand alone as one strong single.

10. "STIMULATE" - ROBERT BABICZ [BABICZSTYLE]

It's been seven months since Robert Babicz has released anything on his own label but it's been well worth the wait as the lead track on the EP, "Stimulate" is an uber-ethereal beauty of a tune that stands right up there with the best of them.
