There could be many other names listed on here, the accomplished Oscar G, the incredible Danny Daze or the devastating Cocodrills duo…but we were more seeking the men of the shadows who hustle to rise, the up & coming talents. These ten artists all have a connection with the city of Miami, some made a name for themselves elsewhere and came back others produced strong dance music hits like Jesse Perez and Lazaro Casanova.

Uncontested number one Miami talent of the year goes to Jesse Perez. His accomplishments in 2016 are pure greatness. From his signings on Defected to DJ Sneak’s “I’m a House Gangster”, German massive imprint BPitch Control…he still took it to another level with “Fake” a release on his own label Mr Nice Guy records, played by every single DJ in Miami within the genre and by the likes of Annie Mac and Monki on BBC Radio 1.

Lazaro started the year strong along side his friend Oscar G with a release on Bar Grooves named “You Stole My Heart”, the song got so popular it ended up licensed by DFTD. Nurvous records for their “5 years of Nurvous” compilation picked his song “Delorean’s Groove” and it’s a beauty. He finished the year with “Calle Ocho” out on Made in Miami records – Oscar G’s label. Calle Ocho is a street in the infamous little Havana neighborhood of Miami…as a result if there’s one Miami talent everyone needs to know about, there he comes… Lazaro Casanova!

Archila is a hyperactive producer. In 2016 we saw him with countless quality releases in various genres such as tech-house, techno or Minimal, plus his acclaimed DJ sets at Heart Night club have made him a solid number 3 in our list.

2015 was probably a better year for Kevin, but this year, he still released great music on Spanish imprint Myself Music and Dubfire’s SCI+TEC. Over a relatively short period of time, the Techno Minimal maestro forged himself to build a great following in New York, delivering live sets at Verboten, Output and a few selective shows in Miami as well.

Donnie is part of the old-school dance music scene in Miami along side his good friends Oscar G, Roland and Patrick M. He spent 2016 sharing the decks with legendary artists such as John Digweed, Nick Warren or his partner in crime Saeed Younan. His work managing the Younan Imprint is a substantial contribution to all House music fans worldwide, well done!
