Soundcloud creator Eric Wahlforss has announced that new licensing deals with Germany’s GEMA, among others, will now allow mixes to be uploaded to the platform without consequences.

Previously users could face consequences for uploading tracks within mixes that contained any copyrighted material. SoundCloud has previously been using an automated content identification system that automatically identified tracks that may violate copyright.

In October, both Spotify and Apple music introduced unofficial remixes after they each signed a deal with Dubset, a music management service.

For those that can understand German, read the full interview with Wahlforss here.
