Oakland Police have now identified 36 victims in the aftermath of the tragedy. The growing list included someone as young as 17 and the son of a first responder.
In light of this, Oakland mayor Libby Schaaf has said- "I want to confirm that we have activated the criminal investigation team. That means that we are engaging in protocol that allows a criminal investigation to be conducted."
Officials have noted that there were no sprinklers in the building, and "it did not have the permits necessary for people to live in the building, known as the Ghost Ship."
There is currently a delay on searching through certain parts of the warehouse as there have been some structural damages that have proved risky for police and firefighters.
Donations are currently being taken for victim relief funds here.
