According to a new study by Audio Engineering Library, MP3s and similar low-quality compression formats "strengthened emotional characteristics like mysterious, shy, scary and sad, but weakened positive ones like happy, heroic, romantic, comic and calm."

On the other hand, "the emotional characteristic of anger was relatively unaffected by MP3 compression."

For vinyl-heads, this is a great reason to continue indulging, and to include more vinyls on your wishlist for the year!
