Omar Souleyman has announced his return with his upcoming record To Syria, With Love, set to be released via Mad Decent on June 2. The record will be a follow-up to 2015’s Bahdeni Nami, and is set to be a slight departure from his previous work- honing in on a techno edge, with the press release noting - “elaborate keyboard and techno elements” as a large part of his new record. The project is set to lyrics and poetry co-written by long-time collaborator Shawah Al Ahmad.
Souleyman has been an advocate for Syria via charity organization Our Heart Aches for Syria, and even performed at the Nobel Peace Prize Concert in 2013.
As previously mentioned, To Syria, With Love is set to come out June 2. He's getting ready for a tour through the US. More information can be found here.
