In 2015, Andy Yashar and his partner Stephen Gold created The Daily Leaf, a real-time resource that helps drive information to cannabis consumers. Touted as a “Groupon for Cannabis” in the early developmental stages, The Daily Leaf has blossomed into a platform that helps consumers find local information pertaining to dispensary deals, product launches, cannabis culture events, as well as promotions like The Biggest 420 Giveaway Ever (there’s still time to enter!). Their website www.dailyleafdeals.com and accompanying newsletter provide visitors with savings of 10 to 75 percent off their regularly priced cannabis products. In addition, The Daily Leaf produces compelling behind-the-scenes video content and hosts cool cannabis-themed sporting events like Canna Bowl and the Fore Twenty Golf Tournament, “The Largest Cannabis Golf Tournament In The Northwest.”
Yashar, an expert in developing and implementing brand focused marketing plans over diverse landscapes, draws on his experience working with over 80 dispensaries in six states performing both SEO and web design. He and Gold are doing amazing things for the cannabis community. It’s no wonder DailyLeafDeals.com was awarded “Best Marijuana Tech Product” by Dope Magazine for two years in a row.
A few months back, we asked Gold to hook us up with five sesh tunes, so it’s only fair we share Yashar’s weed smoking soundtrack with you, too. A homage to ‘90s hip-hop--break out the bongs.
“Don't Give Me No Bammer Weed” by RBL Posse
I first heard this song when I was 14 years old. I got a job selling candy door to door in those blue tubs. We had a boombox in the back of the Van that would pick us up, and this album just dropped. We must of played this song 20 times in a row. After we were done, we smoked two to three joints and rapped the song to each other. It’s one of the first music cannabis experiences I had in my life. To this day, I still listen to this song and smoke.
“Pass Me Da Green” by Master P
I had a nice car when I was 17. It was a cherry red Camaro with expensive rims, and my friend Casey and I would hot box the hell out of it three to four times a week. When we smoked, we always played this song while we rolled blunts. Garcia y Vega with the green tobacco leaf on the outside was our favorite. I need to go back and do it again.
“One Mo Pound” by D-Dub & Brotha Lynch Hung
One of the most underrated rap albums of all time. I had a friend that I grew up named Shaggy, due to his resemblance to the Scooby Doo character (where I grew up, everyone had nicknames). He loved this album. We would sit in his kitchen and play “One Mo Pound” and play cards with our friend Eddy.
“It's Goin Down Tonight Remix” by Celly Cell
This is the ultimate “smoke weed and get ready” song. I've probably listened to it on 10,000 occasions. I've had to buy this album five or six times due to scratching it or someone with sticky fingers getting their hands on it. Worth the money every time!
“Gotta Buy Dope From Us” by B-Legit
This CD was my first introduction to the double blunt. It's where you take two blunts, hollow them out, stick them together, and roll a super long blunt for a party or a friend that smokes way too much. We called it a B-La, referencing B-Legit and this album. If you open up the CD and read the booklet, he is holding one on the inside cover.
