After releases from Dombresky, Jayceeoh, and Born Dirty with JAW & Cassius, the new outlet from Insomniac Records, called In/Rotation, announces their latest release, a two-track EP from Spanish artist ATICA. Only about 2 months old at this point, In/Rotation already has quite a solid list of releases, and this latest EP fits perfectly.
So who is ATICA you might ask? The Madrid-based artist has already released on serious label powerhouses like Spinnin, Ultra, and Confession. His sound is not one so easily classified, and this EP is proof. Starting with Like U, the synth-heavy future bass track featuring well-placed vocals and a deep and melodic piano line. The second track, Speed Up, is a ballsy and funky bassline-house track, weaving back and forth between tough and fun. Clever samples from classic tracks add a touch of familiarity and nostalgia while keeping everything fresh and current.
"Since I started ATICA project, the majority of my productions weren't focused on the classic 128 BPM of house music and few record labels were ready to bet on more instrumental stuff. "Like U" is one example of me releasing music I really enjoy producing. Insomniac has given me the opportunity to deliver the music I feel most comfortable with." - ATICA
