Reading and Leeds Festival, along with a number of other major events happening in the UK, are all reporting that they will be having an onsite tent for those wanting to test the purity of their drugs run by a not-for-profit drug organization called The Loop. This follows the success of drug testing at Secret Garden Party.
Melvin Benn, the CEO of Festival Republic, believes that 6-10 festivals will be having a place for drug purity testing this year.
Benn also noted that in the past- "We talked about it during the summer of last year and the reality is that I took a decision that unless and until the NPCC (National Police Chiefs’ Council) supported the principle of it, it was difficult for us to move forward on it.”
The Loop has also expressed excitement over being at festivals this year. Fiona Measham, a leader at The Loop, has noted: "It’s really exciting that police are prioritising health and safety over criminal justice at festivals.”
