UMEK will be playing under his Zeta Reticula moniker at Klub K4 tomorrow May 25, and we're excited to announce that we will be doing a special stream through our Facebook.
The four hour DJ set has been sold out in person, but we're excited to bring the project to the world with UMEK!
On reviving his alias, he notes:
“Zeta Reticula is one of my passion projects I’ve been developing since around 2000. I reanimated Zeta Reticula as my love child from pure joy of making music that I like. I love Zeta as it allows me to live out my melodic frustrations, which could be perceived as too commercial if I’d channelled them into techno, while they work perfectly in the context of electro.”
Klub K4 is a special location for many in Europe. The beginnings of the club coincide approximately with the beginning of the last, more liberal period of Yugoslavia, which officially opened its doors in 1989.
Over the years, the program guidelines have changed, but Klub K4 has managed to preserve its well-known relaxed atmosphere and a unique musical program. Very early on, electronic music found its place in the Klub K4 program and the club – along with UMEK, who was one of the main proponents of a forward-thinking music policy during this time - played a crucial part in the development of electronic music in Slovenia.
When asked what to expect from the upcoming show, UMEK further explains-
“This is something for true music connoisseurs, who like to enjoy something they can’t hear in the big clubs or festival arenas. I’ve only done two Zeta Reticula sets ever, and this one will be the longest so far. As good electro is not so easy to find as techno or house, I’ll have to include couple of classic tracks, but I’ll try to keep it as fresh as possible, also by including some new edits of classics I produced in last couple of months.”
The event will begin at 23 CET/6pm EST/3pm PST. Tune into our Facebook then for the livestream!
