With Mad Zoo fresh off their first pair of Mat Zo-less releases, it's fitting the label's latest dalliance into remix territory finds their only announced talents joining forces.
Tackling "I Am" off The M Machine's debut LP, 'Glare", labelmate, Shadient, strips the tune bare before spinning a cinematic opening of spectral heart ache. However, it's not long before the track quickly falls out of orbit, giving way to a signature sound that Porter Robinson himself describes as "pure, heavy, unclassifiable, rhythmic, distortion porn". It's not all noise and violence though, as the tune boasts the kind of backbeat that would make early 2000's Madonna foam at the mouth.
Speaking on his reconstruction for the former OWSLA signees, the 19 year old producer tells us, ""I AM" had this weird, almost Aphex Twin style to it. I'm a total sucker for experimental stuff so I was certain that it was due for a weird bassier touch.", to which we'd say, mission accomplished.The first in a series of 'Glare' remixes set to bow in the coming weeks, it's safe to say things kick off here with a warped bang.
