This Friday, August 4, Bandcamp will donate 100% of their share of proceeds of every sale on the site from 12 a.m. PST to 12 a.m. PST to the Transgender Law Center. The move comes after President Donald Trump’s call in three tweets to ban transgender troops from the U.S. military, which has drawn widespread backlash from activist groups, politicians and even the military.
"Bandcamp is a platform for artistic expression, and all manner of variance in experience and identity, including gender and sexuality, is welcome here,” write Bandcamp in a statement on their website. “We support our LGBT+ users and staff, and we stand against any person or group that would see them further marginalized.”
Earlier this year, Bandcamp did a similar drive to donate their profits from the day to the ACLU in response to the Muslim ban. They have included a long list of trans artists on their site that you can check out before purchasing today or Friday.
